Biocides: ECHA Consultation on Propiconazole authorisation

Biocides: ECHA Consultation on Propiconazole authorisation

The biocidal substance Propiconazole (used mainly to treat windows and doors against fungal attack) is undergoing the re-approval process at EU level (currently prolonged until December 2022).

Due to its classification, it is eligible to be re-approved under the derogation criteria of the Biocidal Products Regulation, but needs a positive opinion from the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). For these purposes, ECHA has launched a consultation (HERE), ending on 6th September 2021, during which interested parties such as companies and associations are invited to comment on the substance. In particular, ECHA will gather relevant information on the availability of substitutes or alternatives to Propiconazole.
